Sophie is the yellow lab. Leo is the little black mutt. If Dogs can have a Working Genius, then Sophie has Wonder, Leo Tenacity.
The picture in the background is a Lithograph by Picasso, Zwei Gesichter,1960, a wedding present from my mother’s friend.
Mrs. Rosenberg was a retired art dealer who split her time between Paris, New York, Jerusalem, and Augusta Kentucky. My mom split her time between Cincinnati and Augusta.
Augusta, a quaint historic river town, is said to be the inspiration for Stephen Foster’s famous song, My Old Kentucky Home. It is also the hometown of the great singer Rosemary Clooney and her nephew George.
Mrs. Rosenberg’s historic row house looked out over the Ohio River, just a few doors down from the original general store my parents turned into a photo gallery and antique store in the late 70s.
In the 50s Mrs. Rosenberg had a Gallery in NY where she sold some Piccaso stuff.
The print is signed in the plate, but I have no documents to prove provenance other than seeing genuine Picassos in Mrs. Rosenberg’s Old Kentucky home with my own eyes.
I doubt the picture is worth much money, but to me, it’s a priceless artifact of a time and place filled with creative energy.
In my interpretation of this photograph, the dogs, waiting desperately for a walk, represent the tension in all creative work between Wonder and Tenacity.
Ask me how you can use the Working Genius framework to get the great ideas you deserve.
